The bed becomes the centrepiece of the room. A honey-gold woven headboard with a gently curving top line gives the wall behind the bed a shape and a texture, where a flat panel or a painted wall gives it nothing.
Look closely at the weave. A diamond pattern is worked into the cane, subtle and tonal rather than loud, and it shifts as the light moves across it in the morning and evening. A woven border runs round the edge and finishes it properly. It looks like a made object, not a panel with a trim.
The dark wooden legs underneath are a good contrast. Deep mahogany against warm cane grounds the piece and stops all that honey colour looking too sweet. It sits well with white or oatmeal bedding, a chunky throw, or a dark wooden floor.
At 152 cm wide, it matches a standard UK king-size mattress. Vintage rattan headboards mostly come in single and double, so a king-size in this style is the hard one to find.
Very good condition throughout. The weave is tight, with no breaks, no loose strands and no damage.
