Most rooms are all right angles. This shelf puts a curve in the corner. The twin arches at the top make an open doorway above the top shelf, and the frame beneath is made from twisted cane, wound like rope, so it has texture even before you’ve put anything on it.
The side panels are criss-cross lattice, so the whole unit is open and light passes through it. It holds plants, books and baskets without making a small room feel heavier. Each shelf is woven in a tight herringbone, and every joint is bound in darker rattan, so it looks like it was made by hand.
It stands 166 cm high, close to eye level for most people. The top shelf is a display shelf at a comfortable height, not somewhere you need a stool to reach, and the arches finish it off like a frame.
At 65 cm wide and 36 cm deep, it fits the gap beside a window, a wall in a hallway, the end of a landing or a corner of a bedroom. It’s deep enough for books, small plants and baskets.
Being upfront: woven shelves aren’t flat like glass or wood. They suit plants, books, baskets and chunky ceramics better than tall, thin vases, which can tip. A tray or a basket on a shelf makes a flat surface when you need one.
Very good condition, with some light scratches on the bamboo.
