A conservatory in miniature. The ribbed arch on top is shaped like the roof of a glasshouse. Slim bamboo rods run down both sides like railings, and fanned curves sweep out between the shelves. It’s a bookcase with a skyline.
The bamboo is a pale honey, and the four shelves are woven in a darker cane. That contrast does the styling for you. Whatever you put on a shelf, books, plants, candles or a basket, stands out against the weave as if it had been set on a tray.
The sides are open, so light passes straight through and it doesn’t box in a corner the way a solid bookcase does. At 167 cm it stands taller than most people, and the arched top draws the eye upwards, so the room feels taller too.
At 41 cm deep it’s a proper bookcase depth. It takes full-size books, big baskets and bulky plant pots, which slimmer rattan shelves can’t. It also projects further into the room, so measure the wall space or the hallway width before you buy.
Very good condition, with no damage anywhere. A woven shelf isn’t flat like glass, so tall, thin vases can wobble. A tray or a basket makes a flat surface where you need one.
