Two chairs, one conversation. Face them across a small table by a window and the corner is a place to sit and talk. Each chair is a wide, low barrel with a diamond lattice back that wraps round into the arms, so you sit in it, not on it.
Look at the lattice. The crossed canes are bound at every intersection, and the frame’s honey tone is darker at the binding. It’s open from every side, so light comes through and a small room doesn’t feel boxed in. The legs are three cane poles bound together on a splayed base, a sturdy shape that sits wide and low on the floor.
At 78 cm wide, these are generous chairs. You can curl up in them with your feet tucked under you, and they hold a person comfortably, not just a cushion. The seat is 40 cm high, a low and relaxed height.
They’re shown with round, tufted cushions in soft pastel prints, one blue and sand and the other coral and sage. The prints are very of their era and not an identical pair. They go with the honey cane as they are. If you’d rather something plain, the cushions are easy to recover or swap.
Very good condition, with no damage. Price is for the pair.
