Two chairs you'd happily put at the head and foot of any table. McIntosh made some of the most elegant mid-century furniture to come out of Scotland, and this pair shows why — that sculpted backrest with the curved cut-out detail is pure design confidence. Simple enough to fit anywhere, distinctive enough that people notice.
The upholstery is a brown and rust bouclé-type fabric with a tonal wave pattern that has real depth to it. It's in remarkably clean condition — no stains, no wear, no threadbare patches. Whatever room these came from, they were looked after.
Teak frames are solid throughout. Joints are tight, legs are firm, stretcher bars are intact. No wobble, no creak. Pull them out for dinner, push them back in — they'll do it another thousand times without complaint.
McIntosh furniture has been quietly rising in value as collectors realise it stands shoulder to shoulder with the Danish makers at a fraction of the price. These won't stay at this level forever.
Mint condition. Price is for the pair.
