A matching pair is what everyone wants and almost nobody finds. Most vintage bedsides turn up as singles — you buy one, then spend six months hunting something that nearly matches. These arrive already sorted, either side of the bed, done.
Stag made these in Nottingham, and the weight tells you everything. Pick up a corner and you'll feel the difference between furniture built to last a lifetime and the stuff that sags after three house moves. Solid construction, tight joints, drawers that still slide smoothly decades on.
Those recessed brass pulls are the detail worth noticing. Flush against the drawer front rather than sticking out — no catching your hip on the way past the bed at night, and they've aged into a lovely warm patina rather than staying brassy and bright.
Two drawers each, clean inside and out. Deep enough for the books, the chargers, the hand cream, the reading glasses — everything that gathers beside a bed but doesn't need to be on display.
The proportions are generous too. At 56.5 cm wide these are proper bedside cabinets, not the narrow little things that only fit a lamp and nothing else.
Very good condition throughout. Price is for the pair.
