Marcel Breuer Style Cesca Chair — Chrome & Rattan
If you recognise this chair, you already want it. The Cesca is one of the most iconic chairs of the 20th century — cantilevered chrome tube, woven cane seat and back. It's been in production since 1928 and it still looks like the future.
The rattan on this one is in immaculate condition — tight weave, no holes, no sag. The chrome is clean and bright with that satisfying springy bounce when you sit down. The frame around the cane has a cool grey-taupe finish that gives it a more contemporary feel than the usual blonde wood.
Being upfront: this was originally an armchair, and at some point the armrests were removed. You can see where they were taken off, and there are some scuffs on the finish as shown in the photos. Structurally it's completely solid — it just lives as a side chair now rather than a carver.
Armless Cescas are what most people want anyway. They tuck under a table more easily, take up less space, and the silhouette is cleaner. What was done to this chair is essentially what Breuer himself offered as a separate model.
